Description and Responsibilities

Ambulance attendants are responsible for transporting patients safely to medical facilities. They provide required care according to established protocols and techniques. Ambulance attendants evaluate and stabilize patients in order to prevent their condition from deteriorating before they can receive the appropriate medical care.

Education and Training Requirements

Ambulance technician and pre-hospital emergency care programs are offered at the following schools:

Work Environment

In the Montreal and Laval areas, ambulance attendants work for Urgences-santé (in French only). Elsewhere in Québec, they work for cooperatives or private companies.
